How to Design Development Projects

This training was a Small Private Online Course (SPOC) and instructor-paced that included online meetings guided by a tutor specialized in evaluating projects at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). It has been delivered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

The training goal is to set the groundwork for defining an evaluable project. It offers learning resources that help present the objectives and expected results of the project.

The audience is the IDB staff, and at the end of the course, the participants were able to:

  • Write the draft Operations Development Proposal (POD), describing the problem and solution based on evidence.
  • Establish the basis for monitoring and evaluation. Also, deliver the Results Matrix (MDR), with its objectives, metrics, and the number of changes the project intends to achieve.
  • Apply the Development Effectiveness Matrix (DEM) to estimate the feasibility of evaluating your project.

My Role:

I was responsible for the Portuguese version of the course. I trained the tutor on managing the online, face-to-face meetings and how to use the Platform. I have also supported the students and the tutor throughout the training.
